Penn Lab Supplies Reuse and Donation Program

Description

The Penn Lab Supplies Reuse and Donation Program supports waste reduction and sustainability efforts across Penn laboratories by helping redistribute surplus lab supplies and equipment.

This initiative is a collaboration among Green Labs at Penn, Penn Eco-Reps, the Office of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety (EHRS), and the Penn Sustainability Office.

As Penn’s research footprint continues to grow, laboratories may generate surplus materials that can be safely reused. The program helps facilitate donation and redistribution of eligible materials, such as glassware, plasticware, consumables, equipment, and instruments, to other Penn labs, student organizations, and Philadelphia public schools.

The program provides:

  • an online inventory of available lab supplies;
  • guidance for donating and requesting supplies;
  • safety protocols for decontamination, labeling, and handling.

All donated supplies must be odor-free, sanitized, decontaminated, easily movable, under 25 pounds, and labeled with the Principal Investigator’s name and contact information.
