PennCard

Description

The PennCard is the official University of Pennsylvania identification card for members of the Penn community.

New postdoctoral trainees are eligible for a PennCard once their payroll or appointment record has been processed and approved by the University. This typically occurs within a few days of the appointment start date.

Once eligible, postdoctoral trainees should visit the PennCard Center with a valid form of photo identification, such as a driver’s license, passport, or other government-issued photo ID. A photograph will be taken, and the PennCard will be issued. There is no charge for the initial card.

PennCards may be required for identification, building access, library access, campus services, and other University systems or resources. Specific access permissions are managed by the appropriate school, department, building, or administrative unit.

Postdoctoral trainees should also review related onboarding resources, including PennKey, Building Access, Workday@Penn, and Onboard@Penn.
