Bio

Dr. Rama Hagos is a sociologist and social demographer whose research investigates demographic and health trends using historical census records, survey data, and predictive modeling. As a Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Sociology at Penn, she is working with Drs. Chenoa Flippen and Jason Schnittker hold affiliations with the Population Studies Center and the Center for the Study of Ethnicity, Race, and Immigration (CSERI). Her research draws on historical and contemporary data sources to understand differential patterns of integration over time in the United States across a range of health, economic, and social outcomes.

At Penn, she looks forward to building cross-disciplinary partnerships that connect historical research with contemporary public health and population policy. Prior to becoming a Postdoctoral Fellow, she earned her Ph.D. in sociology with a certificate in Demography from Princeton University, where she was also an affiliate of the Office of Population Research.
