Kandis (Gilliard) Abdul-Aziz
Bio
Dr. Kandis Leslie Abdul-Aziz is the Gabilan Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC). She specializes in sustainable catalysis and materials, focusing on transforming waste into valuable products.
Dr. Abdul-Aziz earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a Provost Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, where she developed procedures for synthesizing heterogeneous catalysts. Her work aims to create practical recycling solutions and mitigate global warming.
Before joining USC, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Riverside, and has received numerous awards, including the Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship and the NSF CAREER Award. Dr. Abdul-Aziz is dedicated to integrating sustainability and economic viability in her research, promoting technologies with significant societal benefits.
