
Amy Lavery
Bio
Dr. Amy Lavery is a public health epidemiologist specializing in pediatric health and neurodevelopmental conditions. As a Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, she worked under the mentorship of Dr. Amy Waldman to examine public health and surveillance systems for children living with neurological disorders. Her research integrated clinical insights with epidemiological methods to improve outcomes and care coordination for children with complex medical needs.
Dr. Lavery earned her Ph.D. in Public Health from Temple University and her Master of Science in Public Health in Epidemiology from Texas A&M Health Science Center. Her postdoctoral work emphasized data-driven approaches to evaluating long-term health trajectories and disparities in access to services for children with neurologic disorders.
Since completing her fellowship, Dr. Lavery has served as an Epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where she began as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer in 2017. In her role at the CDC, she continues to lead national research and response efforts related to maternal and child health, developmental disabilities, and public health surveillance. Her work bridges clinical and public health research, advancing national strategies to promote equitable health outcomes for children and families.
