About

The Wolf Humanities Center invites the Penn community to the Demystifying Book Proposals and Publishing Workshop, a Lunch & Learn event designed to guide early career scholars through the book publishing process.

The workshop will be led by Cosette Bruhns Alonso, Contemporary Publishing Fellow at Penn Libraries and Penn Press, and Jenny Tan, Acquisitions Editor at Penn Press. They will introduce steps and considerations for publishing a book, including transforming dissertations into books, writing proposals, approaching editors as an early career scholar, and understanding what happens between submitting a manuscript and publishing it with a university press. The workshop will focus primarily on conventional publishing while also introducing considerations for open access and born-digital publications.

Light lunch will be provided.

Sponsored by the Penn Libraries, the Graduate Student Center, and the Wolf Humanities Center.
