The Penn postdoctoral community is invited to attend How to Identify and Research Non-Academic Employers, a virtual webinar hosted by the PhD Career Training Platform (Beyond the Professoriate).
Researching potential employers is a critical step in pursuing non-academic careers. This session will explore how PhDs and postdocs can identify organizations aligned with their skills, values, and long-term career goals, and how effective employer research can strengthen job applications and professional decision-making.
The webinar will address key questions, including:
- Why researching employers matters in a competitive job market
- How to identify non-academic employers relevant to specific academic backgrounds
- How to assess organizational culture, mission, and values
- How to find employers that have previously hired PhDs and international researchers
The session will also discuss strategies for navigating career transitions during periods of slowed hiring and balancing immediate job search priorities with long-term career satisfaction.
