About

The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) invites the Penn community to the next SmartSkills session. This presentation on designing your life in the United States will provide practical tools and insights grounded in intercultural research to support international postdocs in building a successful life in the U.S.

Moving to a new country is a challenge filled with opportunities. Understanding how people think, communicate, and behave is essential for creating thriving relationships. Intercultural understanding and practices can be strong resources when navigating internal challenges such as increasing confidence in communication, relating to American values, and dealing with cultural shock while supporting family members.

The presentation will clarify why developing Cultural, Somatic, and Emotional Intelligences can be supportive in effectively working in multicultural environments.

Speaker:

  • Rita Maria Brown, M.F.T., M.A., integral master coach and intercultural trainer
