About
Penn Environmental Health & Radiation Safety (EHRS) will be hosting a Green Chmiestry Workshop on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 10:00-11:30 AM in Carolyn Hoff Lynch Lecture Hall in the Chemistry Complex. EHRS will host guest speaker, Jeishla Melendez Matos from Bristol Myers Squibb, to provide a perspective on the importance of sustainability in the labs in the industry, and will offer an insider look into what happens to our laboratory waste here at Penn once it leaves the lab, as well as actionable programs from Penn Sustainability with local and global impacts.
This workshop is intended to provide resources and ideas for:
- Research – metric tools, alternative assessments, ideas for innovating research for cradle-to-grave thinking
- Teaching – modules, tools, and case studies that can be adapted to coursework to bring in a more holistic context
- Lab Work – practical tips for making the day-to-day work of a lab have the bigger picture in mind
- Community – opportunities for networking in and out of Penn to generate more ideas and find points of intersection for collaborations
