About

The Penn community is invited to attend Open Studio: Juneteenth Printing, a hands-on creative event celebrating Juneteenth and the Summer Solstice through the art of letterpress printing.

Participants will use traditional letterpress techniques to create prints using impressions of leaves from native plants found around Philadelphia. The workshop will highlight species historically used by enslaved people, such as elderberry and coneflower, offering a meaningful connection between nature, history, and art.

This event provides a unique opportunity to reflect, create, and engage with the legacy of Juneteenth in a collaborative and educational setting.
