Event: Archiving the Inner City Symposium — Race and the Politics of Urban Memory in Philadelphia — Presented by the Penn Urban Studies Program
About
The Penn postdoctoral community is invited to attend Archiving the Inner City Symposium — Race and the Politics of Urban Memory in Philadelphia, presented by the Penn Urban Studies Program. This in-person symposium will explore how the twentieth-century “inner city” has been remembered, curated, and represented in Philadelphia’s historic 7th Ward and beyond.
Participants will engage with two panel sessions featuring historians, artists, tour guides, and community-based curators. Topics will include how urban memory is constructed, what is preserved, and what is lost in the cultural and social archives of city space.
