The Penn postdoctoral community is invited to apply for the TUM Global Visiting Professor Program, an initiative of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) that supports international scholars who wish to teach, research, and collaborate in Munich.

The program welcomes early-career and established scholars across all disciplines, with particular emphasis on those engaged in innovative or interdisciplinary research. Funding is available to support teaching and research stays at TUM in collaboration with a host department or faculty member.

Please note: No German language requirement; visits may be conducted in English

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent research experience
  • Invitation from a TUM faculty member or department (TUM Global and Penn OVPR can help facilitate connections)
  • Affiliation with a non-German university or research institution

Program Details:

  • Flexible duration and start date (pending host institution agreement)
  • Support includes travel, accommodation, teaching honorarium, and administrative assistance
  • Open to applicants at all career stages, including advanced postdoctoral researchers
  • Activities may include guest teaching, workshops, seminars, or collaborative research
  • Support provided for German language instruction if needed

Application Requirements:

  • Completed online application
  • CV and academic certificates
  • List of at least 5 publications of the candidate, most relevant to the proposed activities
  • Host Statement from the TUM Professor or TUM Junior Fellow 
  • Optional: Letter of recommendation
