The University of Pennsylvania partners with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to provide complimentary Elemental Membership to Penn students, postdoctoral trainees, faculty, and staff.

AAAS is one of the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific societies and the publisher of the Science family of journals.

Through AAAS Elemental Membership, Penn postdoctoral trainees can access professional development resources, science policy and research updates, networking opportunities, leadership and volunteer opportunities, discounted event rates, and opportunities to build eligibility for AAAS members-only honors and awards.

Elemental Membership benefits may include:

  • Training and professional development, including on-demand learning, career resources, and virtual events
  • Science policy and research updates, including Member Update, Policy Alert, and ScienceAdviser
  • Networking opportunities through the AAAS Member Community and AAAS Sections
  • Leadership and volunteer opportunities across scientific communities
  • Discounted rates for the AAAS Annual Meeting and other events

Eligibility

Complimentary AAAS Elemental Membership is available to Penn students, postdoctoral trainees, faculty, and staff through Penn’s institutional partnership with AAAS.

Current Penn postdoctoral trainees, including Postdoctoral Researchers, Postdoctoral Fellows, and NRSA Postdoctoral Fellows, may claim a complimentary Elemental Membership as part of this University-wide access.

Users should complete the Penn-specific AAAS registration process and provide the requested account and profile information.

Already an AAAS Member?

Current AAAS members can still be counted as affiliated Elemental Members through Penn’s partnership with AAAS.
