Penn Postdocs in the News: Ulrica Edlund elected to The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA)
Penn Postdoctoral Fellow Ulrica Edlund, Ph.D., elected to The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA)
PHILADELPHIA, PA — Dr. Ulrica Edlund, a former postdoctoral research fellow in the laboratory of Professor Virgil Percec at the University of Pennsylvania, was elected to The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) in 2018 in recognition of her contributions to polymer science and biomaterials research.
Dr. Edlund currently serves in the Division of Fiber and Polymer Technology within the School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Health at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. Her research focuses on polymeric biomaterials, including polymer synthesis, surface modification, and characterization for applications in drug delivery and tissue engineering.
During her postdoctoral training at Penn from 2000 to 2001, Professor Edlund contributed to several research projects in the Percec laboratory, including work connected to the group’s influential dipeptide self-assembly research published in Nature in 2004.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) is one of Sweden’s leading scientific and engineering academies, recognizing individuals whose research and innovation contribute significantly to technological and societal advancement.
Professor Edlund’s election reflects both her distinguished scientific career and Penn’s longstanding contributions to polymer chemistry, materials science, and international research collaboration.
We are proud to celebrate Dr. Edlund’s accomplishments and her continued contributions to biomaterials and engineering research.
