Penn Postdoctoral Fellow Morgan Basta, Ph.D., awarded Hartwell Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship
PHILADELPHIA, PA — Dr. Morgan D. Basta, a postdoctoral researcher in Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, has been awarded a Hartwell Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship in recognition of innovative biomedical research focused on improving children’s health.
Dr. Basta earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences in Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine from Thomas Jefferson University in 2023, following a B.S. in Biology from Rowan University, where she also completed a minor in Psychology. Her academic training focuses on cell biology, regenerative medicine, and translational approaches to understanding tissue development and disease.
At Penn, Dr. Basta conducts interdisciplinary research within the Department of Dermatology, contributing to collaborative initiatives spanning skin biology, inflammation, and translational medicine. Her work explores mechanisms of skin development and disease with potential applications for pediatric and precision medicine research.
The Hartwell Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship supports early-career scientists conducting innovative biomedical research with the potential to improve children’s health. Fellows receive support to pursue high-impact translational research projects focused on pediatric health and development.
